Day Three: The Culture of Writing 

Part I:

We will discuss how writing styles differs across cultures and how this affects us as ESL students in an American university setting. We will also compare and contrast different styles of writing to that of our own.

Part II:

A brief discussion will take place regarding how to understand and work with the feedback I give you in this course. After, we will take some time to go over the major components to a strong essay. Finally, we will analyze some common "errors" that I have taken from your essays and discuss how they affect the structure of an essay. 

Part III:

The first reflective paper will be assigned and discussed. Directions for the assignment can be found under Major Assignments on this course website. The assignment is due in Dropbox on Sept 11 before 11:59pm.
