Part I: Library Online Resources (20-30 minutes)
Before we head over to the libraries, I would like to first discuss their online resources available for students. To  begin, we will discuss the following as a class:

1) Have you used any library resources online? Share with the class?
2) Is there anything interesting/surprising to you about the library at UIUC?
3) Did you know that it is the 5th largest library in the US that houses of 24 million items?

A: Which UIUC Library is best for me?
Please click here to access an introduction to the UIUC Library. This is full of general information for you regarding the library services. Now, click here. Once you have clicked on this link, locate which library is associated with your field of study and write it on the handout provided.

B: How do I get an account?
Now, click here to go back to the main library page. Go to My library accounts (located on the left) and then select University of Illinois Library Account. If you have not already signed up for an account, please do so now. If you have already signed up for an account, please share with the class what you can/have done with your library account.

C: EBSCO (Academic Search Premier)
Click here to go back the main page. Type in the words "Academic Search Premier" and keep clicking on EBSCO Databases until you read the page that has the circle with EBSCO HOST in the middle. You can also click here to access it directly.  We will discuss this Online Search Engine together as a class.

The handout titled, "Dissect Your Research Question" needs to be filled out and shown to me at the start of the next class. You may keep it, however, for your research.

Part II: Go to the Library! (30-40 minutes)
Please follow me as I lead you on a brief tour of the Main and Undergraduate Libraries. Bring you belongings, as we will not be returning to class.

For a brief overview of the things we will see/visit in the library, click here.

Homework:
1) Those of you who have not yet had your research topic approved need to do so by Friday. Failure to do so will result in a significant reduction in your score for this paper.
