Day 25: Peer Review of Final Paper + Presentation Set-Up

Lesson Objectives:
  • Provide/Receive peer feedback on Final Paper
  • Sign-Up for End-Of-Semester Conferences
  • Understand upcoming presentation format/expectations.

Warm-Up: Plagiarized or not?  [9:30-9:35 (5min)]

Part I: Sign-Up for Conferences [9:35-9:40 (5 min)]
Because we have already had individual conferences early on the semester, I am leaving the last conference as optional.  Students wanting to meet with me regarding their final papers need to email me a time that will work for you according the time-table chart below. I encourage many of you to come and see me! Please click on the chart and send me an email indicating three times that would work best for you.  I will email you back to confirm that time and enter it into the chart. Looking forward to seeing you!

End of Semester Conferences Schedule

Part II: Peer Review of Final Papers [9:40-10:40 (60min)]
Please get into the following groups and follow along on your peer review handout.
  • Paper #1- 9:40-10:00
  • Paper #2- 10:00-10:20
  • Paper #3- 10:20-10:40

A)    Read and Provide Written Feedback [10 min]
Now, we will get into small groups (no more than 3) and sit next to each other. I will be passing around a hard copy of the peer review sheets for readers and self-review sheets for readers.

If you haven’t brought a hard copy of your paper, you will need to share your document electronically with your group, either via email or dropbox.

Then, everyone will read and work individually to complete the peer review form on the same persons’ paper! However, you should ask questions to the writer if clarification is needed.

B)     Oral Feedback [10 min]
After written review is completed, discuss your feedback with the reviewers by going over the sheet as a group. When you are done, give that person your peer review form.

Person #2 Written and Oral Feedback [10:10-10:30 (20 min)]
Repeat the process again with the second group member.

Person #3 written and Oral Feedback [10:30-10:50 (20 min)]
Repeat the process again for the final time with the third group member.

Part III: Format of Presentations [10:40-10:50 (10 min)]
Please click here to access a document that provides direction both for the speaker and audience. Also note that I will be bringing my camera for those who wish to have themselves filmed. I strongly encourage this. The film will not be used in any class and only you will have access to it.
